The act of viewing as a means of communication is a theme that brought together the elements of this project. This scopic device is informed through the use of perspective, used as a tool to frame major views in the second-year studio space. The strong perspectival lines and light conditions of the hallway and studio crossing created the perfect site for the device, creating boundaries using horizontal and vertical elements. By then breaking each of the three views down into its lines and planes, they ultimately come together to create the form of the model. The use of perspective was further explored in the three graphite vignettes, each depicting a view and the way that the scopic device is used to frame its angles and planes in a unique way. Hand-drawing was used as a means to explore the sensorial qualities that the model brings to the viewer. The model guides the viewer to look through it, and to see the space as a collective of light, lines, angles, planes, and shadows, brought together through a single moment.
